Hi everyone! I found this 1974 Washington quarter and there is a lot of errors to it. I've search everywhere I can and not found another like it. It may be grease errors and maybe double die and not sure what else. In several spots on front and back you can see the copper . I'm sure these are not just damaged marks but could be wrong. I appreciate any and all help! Thanks! &
Yes, post strike damage. The coin didn't leave the striking chamber in this condition. It is cool example of damage--you may want to keep it as a curiosity.
My first thought was..This was a buried coin from long ago which was found, scrubbed clean and put back to work in circulation...Sorry no mint errors here...spend it and forget it.
to CCF...good luck on future finds, have fun and keep asking when needed...
Do you happen to have a scale? I'd like to know the weight to see just how much metal was removed by the acid. It's not going to change my opinion of the coin, I'm just curious!
ANA ID: 3203813 - CONECA ID: N-5637 Clean a coin that may be worth collecting? Please DON'T! When in doubt, leave it dirty!!
