Hi everyone, would like to know what you all think of this Copper Lincoln Cent l found in coin roll. It appears to have a D mint mark (it also weighs 3.1 grams) Although obviously damaged, (post mint?) l believe the last numeral can somewhat be made out to be either a small date 2, or more likely a 3 !! What do you guys think? Would it be safe to rule out the possibility of it being a Large date 1982 due to it almost clearly (in my opinion) passing the imaginary and/or invisible line theory/technique if you will regarding the top and bottom point of the 1 lining up correctly both above and below the following numbers. ...also, the 8, although seemingly flattened-out a little, still appears to have the small date characteristics regarding the smaller upper loop etc. Keen for some feedback and hopefully enough agreeance with the above mentioned to possibly try send it in to 3rd party Grader. (Or is it possibly too damaged to be graded and/or verified as a Copper transissional error?) Thank You in advance for your opinions. Edited by Coincom222 07/09/2021 6:40 pm

Looks like coin damage, that removed part of the copper plating if the weight was 2.5 grams. But either weight, it is just damage to the coin. No plus for the coin.

Please, you really need to crop your photos! You have too much totally wasted space! And too, your extreme close-ups are completely out of focus. Practice your coin photography, it will pay off in the end. Thanks.

Yes good sir lm aware of the damage. Though in all due respect not aware of how that renders my actual questions void of any reasonable answers. Especially in regards to "a large date 1982 being ruled-out" ..as the 1,9 and 8 don't appear to be damaged, at least not Post mint I'm presuming. With the addition of at least the top part of the last numeral being reasonably visible to the point of it surely not being a 0 or 1 could be agreed on l would have thought.
None the less, If all the above being the case, plus given the fact it does weigh 3.1grams (can take pics of it on scales) my main question would be this:
...wouldn't the last numeral either surely be a small date 2 if not a 3 or above ?

Right now it's more about us not being able to give more information based on these images. With clearer images, we might be able to add more details and explanations to your questions.
As for the post mint damage, we can rule out those gauges as not possible to take place during the minting, that's why that's all the answer you're getting right now.

Definitely ODV-032 or later, judging by lettering and date thickness, so 1982 (small date) is the earliest it could possibly be.
I'm not convinced that is a D mintmark and not just moved metal related to the damage. And I can only take your word that it is copper (it sort of looks like the damage exposed zinc, but your photos are too blurry to really tell for sure). So, given you're not wrong about the metal, I'm thinking 1982 small date copper (not the rare one) at the moment.
Also why are you screenshotting an image? Just post the image directly. Huge loss of quality there.

Thank you all especially to Tanman much appreciated and sorry my bad regarding picture quality,at my end they are showing as clear, though lm certainly not doubting you guys they are blury at your ends. Must be due to being snapshots uploaded. Tanman reason for that is because my phone is a crappy $100 Nokia and takes awful quality pics so I took the pics using my gf's iPhone 7plus (which came out excellent) then had her forward them to me, however l just snapshoted and uploaded those. Apologies again for that Gents l will try to download them and then upload. If that fails will login via her phone, take more pictures including pics of reverse and of the coin on the jewelry scales...please bear with me and thank you all once again.

The images do look like zinc showing, so an image on a working scale is helpful.
