Is This Natural Or Artificial Toning?

You can see it on the high points of the coin in the picture where the toning came off. Report this Post to the Staff
DBM Pillar of the Community Canada 9865 Posts	Posted 07/11/2021 11:55 am If the "toning" came off when you whioed it then it wasn't toning at all but rather some sort of film on the surface of the coin. JohnWayne007 Pillar of the Community Canada 1186 Posts	Posted 07/11/2021 12:06 pm You can get this type of toning if you let certain soaps dry on its surface, could have also been a gas station coin (left on the ground around a pump) ive seen coins soaked and dried in gasoline look this way and usually washes off with water or acetone. I cant say 100% what made this coin tone this way but I can say its not natural.
