With this kind of damage, is grading possible? I got it in a roll of mixed '30s-60s' cents at 2-3x face value. Even if it's not worth anything it's got a story to tell

Actually, I would say it was defaced too much, for a grade.

I think that ANACs may net grade it, I dont know about ICCS. Certainly would get a BB from PCGS and NGC. Why not buy a holder and slab it yourself? You know its real, the grade is a non issue I would think.

Well, I wasn't going to submit it... I know it's not worth enough to begin with. I was just wondering with that much (even localized) damage.

Unfortunately the damage is beyond collector preference. I would suggest next time your at a wishing well, cast it in after making a wish. (Hint:wish for a RED, MS-64, 1922 cent for next X-mas!

It's sorta tragic for that semi-key date. I agree with the others--it's hard to grade because the important areas are defaced...literally.

lol, thanks. I also have a Fine+ 1922 cent, got it for a buck :D This was a few cents max so worth it in any case.

What is funny is that the damage over the "one" actually looks sort of like a Chinese chop mark, or a few overlapping. haha
