Hi, I need this coin for my collection. Please see link below. Please read the description...do you really think this is natural toning? It kind of looks like it was in a fire... Thanks for any responces. http://cgi.ebay.com/1894-Rainbow-To...an_W0QQitemZ330300557174QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item 330300557174&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66:2%7C65:10%7C39:1%7C240:1318#ebayphotohosting

It's probably natural, but it's not entirely attractive to me, especially at that price.

I think it grades in the vf-20 range. I wouldn't pay what the seller is asking.

I know that I am color blind, but in what world is that considered a rainbow tone? Or am I missing something there?

It looks like a rainbow fungus.

Looks like there was something on the coin like tape residue then it was cooked off.

It also looks like a VF to me.
And, looks like some corrosion or something on it, I would'nt pay that much for that particular coin.

I agree ... not pretty and more of a problem coin than a premium

I noticed that coin the other day when surfing E-bay coins. Personally, I'd stay away from it. Three reasons:would only grade VG-10 at best, overpriced and appears to have corrosion. There is however, a nice problem free I.C.C.S., F-15, 1894 nickel for sale on E-bay. Starting with NO Reserve at just $1.00. Excellent KEY date coin that everyone needs in their collection, especially with a mintage of a mere 500K. Current I.C.C.S. Population report states that there are less than 300 known to be higher than the one currently listed. With a survival rate of just 1-2% for this series, I would guestimate less than 1,000 survivors (raw/slabbed combined) world wide! Glenn

Thanks for the lead Glen, I'm still searching for this listing....just having trouble scrolling through all the Chinese replica listings...in order to have a look see. Regardless, lots of valuable opinion in this particular posting.
