While coin roll hunting I came across this quarter. Any idea what could have caused the change from silver color, to gold color. Post minting damage?

Appears to be one of those plated quarters sold--with great fanfare--by third party sellers.

I don't see any evidence of the golden color wearing away so I have my doubts that it is plated. Maybe just toning due to environmental/chemical exposure? Either way it is a spender.

Could be just toning, but I bet it was one of the ten thousand that were sold in sets of all fifty states that were gold colour plated. QVC and HSC and others sold them. How it got separated from the set they were sold in is anybody's guess.
