I found a bunch of silver quarters at my local gas station in a coin machine, same as the 63, 2 64's and 58 silver coins I posted previously. All came from same machine. I'm trying to figure out if these are proof, collectors, supposed yo be uncirculated, etc. The first is a 1970 S Quarter, with no "frosting" on either side. The next 2, which I understand I need to post all separately. I wanted to post together to show distinction, but as in earlier posts, was to post all seperate.

Not all proos will exibit the "cameo" effect .....most have just mirrorlike fields and a much sharper strike as that coin does look at a regular strike ...the proof is struck twice giving it more defined lines

It actually does have a mirror like image. I'm in the process of acquiring a new camera. It is very bright, sharp and mirror like. Just not showing well. That's why I wanted to post all 3 coins together, but was told to do each one separately. Si what is the difference between a 3 coins? One has no cameo or frost, the 1977 has cameo on obverse only and rhe 1983 has cameo on both sides. They all appear to be in great condition, almost to the extent that they look almost brand new?

Most likely all spent in the same collection dump.

Somebody could have broken into their dad's/mom's collection and grabbed some 'change' to spend

The 1970-S is not silver, but it is a proof coin that was likely broken out of a set at some point. Sounds like someone tried to redeem a bunch of quarters they had no idea (or no care) what they were handling. It's now an impaired proof coin, no longer untouched.

I am just seeing all if this from July? I had just started researching some of the coins I had collected. I didn't buy any of the proof "S" coins. They were in a quarter game machine at a local gas station. I put in a few bucks and got all of them that way.
Once I got home and seen what I had, I went back the next day abd put few more dollars in, and got the rest of em out! Sad thing is, someone most likely too their parents/grandparents or whoever's stash! I've never bought (per say), any coins. Still have lots to learn before buying! Thanks for the links, very helpful! I bought the little round plastic coin holders with the white adjustable padding to put them into? Is that protection enough? Is there something better? What is a 2x2? Is that the cardboard holders?
