I am always watching a few auctions and I review what I watch every couple of days.
Like many I have some favourite searches etc.

Today I went to check my watched items and I scrolled down the page to active selling

I found I was selling a Blackberry Storm 9500.

The email listed and everything about the seller except my id was wrong..

What fun
had to contact ebay to eliminate the listing
had to change my password
had to change passwords at paypal and other snipe sites I use.

Just a security warning check your ebay account on a regular basis.

Did you get any emails from ebay that you had to verify info or something like that?

None

I saw the fake for sale item

it was listed with a starting price of $0.16 but the description said if you bought items valued at $300.00 you would get free shipping?

I called ebay - they verified it was not my listing they had me change my password and then they connected me with paypal the rest I had to do on my own

whole thing took about 30 minutes.

Yes, it happened to me too.
One morning I got up and was selling golf clubs!
We are lucky that we caught this early before somebody bought it, aren't we?
I think this sort of thing starts with an email address, so change your email addresses that go to your Paypal and ebay accounts as well or they'll be back.
It is my opinion that either ebay or Paypal send the lost passwords to a recently hijacked email account.
I also think these come from the ask the seller a question if you don't make sure to hide your email, then they have your user name and now they also have your email.

There are programs out there to redirect and fetch your remote email.
While you sleep they are at it, when you awake everything is changed.

BEST ADVICE ... yes keep an eye on your account, even if you are not selling and change email addresses regularly.
Most of all hide email addresses when answering questions from suspicious potential bidders asking if you will ship the item to France or Italy or hello ... NIGERIA.

That's scary, thanks for the warning. I doubt you'd fall for this one, but I've noticed a lot of spoof emails from " ebay", prompting me to login to a bogus site. I suspect that's how they've collected a lot of passwords.
