I was just roaming around ebay for a little while today, and looking at all of the coins I can't afford :) I noticed one seller selling a 1893-P dollar, which I checked out before going to another expensive listing....

Later on, I found a carson city dollar from a different seller. I realized both the photographs were taken in the exact same manner as the seller with the 1893-P dollar, with the exact same camera, and not on just th one item. I scrolled up to the seller's info, and saw the same unique city name in both listings, and a my ebay page with the same layout. Remarks in the listed auctions look the same, and follow the same format.

Both sellers offered some of the same items, and some differing items. Feedback is 100% (rating above 250) for one seller, and 99.5% from the other, with 5 negative feedback during the last 12 months, and 2 during the last six (rating above 500). The first has been active since early 2008, the second, since late 2007.

Is there any reason anyone would have two separate ids?

Many of us here have 2 ID's. One for buying and one for selling. We recommend it anyways .

Though there isn't anything wrong with selling under 2 names it does seem rather odd. I'm assuming that his 100% has the better items on it?

Mind posting the 2 names on here so we can check it out? You can wait till the auctions you are bidding on are over first. Not that we'd ever outbid another member on here

I have seen this before and both seller's have affiliation with each other like a different or a new partner starting or running a different business. Do What I did I emailed them and asked if they are the same person and they said yes that he was working with different people. and they both had many many positive feed backs with no negatives. If they give you a answer like yes then you know they are legit if they don't give you a good answer to this question report them to ebay.

Sorry, the first item I was looking at was an 1893-P morgan, the second item with the second seller was a cc dollar.

First I'm not sure what you are reporting to e-bay "if they don't give you a good answer"?

Since they're from the same city, it is most likely that they've got the same guy doing the layouts for them. The couple of coin dealers I know are not real savy with computers.

There are also other reasons. Based on what you've put in your message, I find it a curiosity, but not a conspiracy.

I know of at least one seller on ebay who uses 2 IDs for different types of listings: one for higher end coins, mostly sold with Buy It Now, and one for the lower end auctions.

I have two ebay ID's but I pretty much quit selling on ebay over a year ago because of fees.
I never shill bid on my own auction with my other account.
There's nothing wrong with it, it isn't against the rules to have two or more ID's.

What exactly would you report them for? You're allowed to have as many ebay accounts as you have email addresses.

That is why I'm asking in this forum, and not reporting to ebay... Both selling ids appear reputable, and I am not suggesting the seller is doing anything illicit. It just seems strange.
