Those who search coin rolls--especially high volume roll searchers--have the sense now and then that the coins they go through have been seen/examined by other roll hunters. I combed through dozens of cent rolls several years ago that had cents freshly 'Xed out' with a nail or heavy duty sewing needle--perhaps 75% of all the coins. All marks were on the reverse, done very neatly. Unsure if it was perpetrated by a sadistic collector, or just a malicious miscreant.
At another time, I got my hands on 40+ customer wrapped cent rolls, each paper roll marked with a thick black sharpie. The coins were all '83 or later--not a copper in the bunch. And there was the experience of opening a pile of customer wrapped quarter rolls in late 2019, which had each 2019 coin marked with a black sharpie across the obverse (no other years were marked). I had the sense that someone had been looking for W minted pieces.
What have you come across?

Off and on the past few days, I have been looking at some Kennedy rolls that had seemingly random marker stripes or letters on the coins. But, there was a group that had IGWT marked through. Those were all 1974 D's. I figure someone checked those for the same reason I was.
Don't know it it was to mark them as checked, or to create some extra contrast to pick up the doubling more easily.

With cent rolls, I almost always weigh them as soon as I get them. A full roll of Zincolns will always weigh right around 125 grams. And, Numiscrat, I've seen plenty of those 1974-D Halves with the "In God We Trust" markered as well - it is unusual for me to get a box of halves and not find one or more of them. I've encountered a lot of other unusual things over these past 5 1/2 years of CRH - one time I encountered grabbed 25 CWR of nickels from a bank, and every coin dated prior to 1990 had been pulled. For quite a long time a few years ago when searching boxes of halves, I was running into a lot of (mostly NIFC) halves with a large four digit number written in black sharpie across the reverse. A collector, or someone in my local area, has been putting pre-1961 dated nickels back into circulation over the past year or so. I've found a good number of coins dated 1960 and before with a dark blue sharpie highlighting the date. These coins are almost always found at the end of the rolls, so they're definitely being planted. I've found probably around 100 of these nickels to date. The most bizarre though was a group of 25 rolls of nickels I got several months ago. When I got home, I soon noticed that these rolls were rolls I had dumped in the next city over from me almost five years ago when I first was getting re-started in CRH! Every coin, of course, was dated 2016 or earlier (no pre-60s obviously) and a few S&S rolls of brand new 2016-Ds I had turned in were included. The funniest thing is I ended up pulling the OBW BU 2016-D rolls and selling them on ebay for a tiny profit.

Interesting experience, John77--especially with the 'recycled' nickel rolls.

Kennedys with sharpie. Nearly 90 percent of the box was marked.

Oh, one I'll add which I just encountered - CWR with coins all facing the same direction (obverse or reverse showing) when opening them. This usually happens when someone has arranged coins one side up or the other and then picks them up and manually rolls them after searching them for whatever they're looking for. Since I'm specifically looking for dates most of the time my rolls can end up this way.

About 2012 I picked up several rolls of halves marked "1973". Four of those marked rolls contained solid silver. Always buy them all.
