First partial collar I've ever found! I've wanted one of these for a while now.

From the research iv done and I'm new I'd say partially retained collar. I saw some examples when looking into rim errors. But the experts will confirm this one.

@Wrekkdd I think you're confusing terminology a bit. The collar refers to the "retaining collar," but the strike is not a "partially retained collar," it's a "partial collar" or "partial retaining collar" as I wrote in the title of the post. It is not the collar being "retained" that is the error, but rather the retaining collar failing to fully deploy during the strike. I think you're confusing the term with a "partially retained die break," which is a completely different thing. A partially retained die break *can* occur on the collar die, but it is a completely different thing. http://www.error-ref.com/retained-collar-cud/

It looks like a partial collar. To bad it wasn't found before it spent several times going in vending machines. The reeds usually are more interesting on the coin when they are rescued from circulation.

When the part is inside of the collar, the reeds will be showing. The areas outside of the collar will be enlarged from that area not being contained in the collar.

@Coop the reeds are in pretty decent shape, but it may look that way because so little of the collar is deployed on this one. This coin was very close to being a true broad strike, and there's only the tiniest ring of reeding going about 1/3 of the way around the coin's circumference. I'll gladly take about AU condition for any error coin found coin roll hunting. I've had some far more disappointing "what if-s"

Exactly. This is a great example—well done.
