If you could explain to me how that could happen during the striking of the coin, then I will concede it is an error, otherwise it is just a heavily damaged cent.

incomplete letters miss aligned. Lincolns shirt showing up on rim. I cant remember what you call it when its from another coin and transfers.

Texasstar12 The term you may be thinking of is a vice or garage job. These are not errors, all you have to do is look at the flattened rims. This cannot happen when a coin is struck in collar.

As has been said, nothing in the minting process would produce this. So it is post mint damage.
However, taking a couple of coins and squeezing them in a vice will make coins that look like the damage done to this one.
We see this all the time on this forum (and other online forums). All it takes is a trip to the garage to verify. :)

Without question, post mint damage ( PMD). Barely worth one cent, certainly not an error coin, sorry.
