What are you seeing? It looks like there may be broken solder joints where this coin was in some kind of bezel. If so, it is worth ten cents and is a damaged coin.

was curious as to the ridges along the sides, i'd never seen anything like that on a coin before

Those ridges weren't on there when the coin was struck so they have been added later .
Maybe added to form some sort of jewelry . Classed as PMD.

In the future , please crop your photos.

Agree with JimmyD. A close-in, large and sharp photo of the reverse, and an end-on pic of one of the 'ears' on the rim might be helpful. Thanks.

Definitely PMD, but in the future please post images of both sides of the coin as well as details of the relevant areas (in this case the edge of the coin). Don't need a lot, but 3-5 is a good number.

Note the color is different than the coin. So something was added to the coin. This would not be a mint error, but an alteration of the coin. (Probably solder)
