Well after my nickel debacle, I thought why not jump into the deep side of the pool. Found this fairly nice 1972P and after checking Lincoln Cent Resources (my goto for 1972 DDO's) and CopperCoins, the coin resembled a DDO-5 based on the date and in god we trust. Please peruse my pics and let me know your thoughts! TIA and regards.

Unfortunately, it is just the master die doubling. About half of all the coins for this year/mm, look like this. Scroll to the very end, it's the last listing.

Makecents you are saying that DDO-5 listed on Lincoln Cent Resources is actually a master Die Doubling! Interesting as That is something I did not know. Why would it remain on Lincoln Cent Resources or on Copper Coins without clarifcation?

allcoinsaregood,
Did you check die markers? Your coin does not match copper coins DDO-005. Your coin does indeed look like the common master die doubling.

No, I am saying that you have the doubled master die. I was wrong about the amount too, Wexler estimates 60 to 70% of coins minted this year are this die. Yours is not DDO-005.

I marked up your pics to show you some popular pick up points for this doubled master die.

Here are the individual devices. Some have markers.
Here they are all together:
