I'm going to go ahead and call this one as MD, just found another 64 but the doubling is on top of the head. I think coinsandcanada refers to it as hub doubling for a read doubled die, everything else is just doubled or they just mix up there own examples and definitions

You are correct to assume this is Machine Doubling, most of the "varieties" on coins and canada that look like this are no where close to legitimate varieties, this is exactly why I am writing my book so that collectors new and old dont get confused anymore, my book will have only genuine doubled die listings.

With that said, 1964 has 2 different doubled dies, both being on the Reverse, the Doubled Bud and the Doubled Branch.

Ya iv seen those ones on ebay, don't seem to have much if a premium for then.
I'll have to be sure to purchase a copy of your book when it's done. There is some info on doubled dies online but no good list for each year like the Wexford list(I think it's Wexford) for American coins anyways.

They have an alright premium in higher quality, but its hard to set a price when they are not common, the 1964 doubled bud is becoming fairly scarce, through all the 1 cent coins ive searched (millions) ive never found one and the only example I do have, came from SPP-Ottawa.

They are on ebay but until more collectors actually find them and know about their existance they are kinda just sitting on the back burner for now, I have no doubt the premium will go up sooner than later though.

I see them for fairly cheap mayb I'll order one, all old penny errors are going to become more and more scarce. They are all being melted. So other then collectors that are hording penni's they are becoming more scarce. I found my first decent variety today, 1959 A to denticle. I have a lot of 1940-1960 so hopefully I find some more or other varieties. The 1955 sf I have yet to see. I think I have more 1940 then anything.anything to look for on 1940 pennies?

A little bit of doubling on the head of a fairly modern coin is NOT an example of "hub or matrix doubling". My god, doesn't CaC even look at the definition of what errors and/or varieties actually are and how they bare defined? I would take anything in CaC with a grain of salt.
