They are die chips. Part of the fields on that area of the digits, has broken off of the die. The dies were over used to squeeze every cent they could make with these dies. So the 1950's wheat cents with heavy die wear is common to find.

Look like baby die chips to me too. As you may know, these show up pretty often over on the left side of the obv too in the letters of the word LIBERTY.

Thanks. I will watch the LIBERTY closer for more of these. I just like them and my 9 year old daughter thinks they are really cool so keepers for us.
