This is just one of those "I love this hobby posts".
My wife and I joined a couple friends in Denver this week for a rock concert.
While the ladies were doing their makeup and what not, I had a couple hours so I bounced over to a local coin shop that was new to me, I happened to pick Rocky Mountain Coin if for no other reason it's front door was the most grandiose I've ever seen for an LCS. I was a able to add a pretty toned and lustery 1915-D
Buffalo nickel to my collection. (Haven't been able to adequately photo it, sorry.) The salesman was quite friendly too.
I try to make it to a new LCS whenever I travel somewhere. I note where I bought the piece and part of the story of the collection is all the different places I've been and added coins. A couple months ago I was in Houston and did similarly with a pretty Buffalo.
(The bands that played might be off the radar for many in the Numis-world, but the show with Green Day, Weezer, The Interrupters, and Fall Out Boy was epic in its loud and explosive punk rock way. Green Day has come a long way in their 30 years, and Weezer always puts a smile on the masses.)
Then when I got home, a package of 19th century Thai coins was waiting for me. I decided earlier this year to do a Thai type coin set in memory of the two years I previously lived there and I think the elephant and chakras designs of the 1860s are some of the prettiest coins EVER. This package included 4 new types for my set and I'd been saving my pennies for a few months for a pricier one, a pleasantly toned scarce 1860 half Baht.
Finally as I got back to work, I leaned that I was awarded a promotion at work that's been in the radar for a few months :)
Numisnerd over and out.
