Seeing QuarterHoarder72's post about a 2019-D reminded me of this particular oddity. I still believe something is struck through here and there to be a plating issue of some sort. I'm not sure if it's a strike through, but I do think something was wrong on the copper plating on the planchet. It kind of looks like a meteorite deflected off of column 12 and landed in the shrubbery. I'd drive over to look for it, but it's a 400-mile round trip, and I'm sure someone has picked it up in the last 15 years. Petespockets55 Pillar of the Community United States 5786 Posts	Posted 08/29/2021 08:15 am Certainly looks like it could have been grease or oil that stuck to the blank before getting plated. I can't imagine copper would bond very well to oil or grease. Here is a link to a thread about the plating process and showing the tumblers (45 RPM) and terms that are used by the producer of the Lincoln planchets.
