Hey all,
I am hoping the community may help me understand a few, what to look for in, terms regarding Doubled Die coin and other type errors. I'm not sure if this 2004d cent has exactly or any of what I'm looking to understand. I understand basics like die chips, gouges, scratches and cracks. Other terms like pitting on a coin, dies snapping back into hub alignment, a tilted hub, scratches from feeder fingers and many others, I'm sure, I have not yet encountered so I am not familiar with what to look for when they are referred to in sources or used throughout the Coin World. I understand the coin pressing process but know nothing of the internal workings of a coin press itself. Until recently I would have put this 2004d cent into my roll and return jar because it appears to be beaten. I'm not so sure in this day though.. It appears to have a partial collar clash which affected IGWT and you can see the double rim under ONE CENT wrapping to the M in AMERICA. I am not going to jump right to it being a doubled die because idk what to be looking for on the coin due to my lack of understanding of some of the terms used within its WDD listings.
Thanks,
Coindom76

I see a coin with damage and zinc rot.
The ridge on the reverse is caused by Die Deterioration.
Called a Ridge Ring.

There is no way any of this was done at the mint. It's been ran over a few times.

Thank you for the feedback everyone. In no way did I think or was I referring to the zinc rot as an error. I think that is my coin collecting vice. Trying to look for what is under coating damage for varieties or errors. Good advice all. I will start to just throw them in the to be rolled jar.
Thanks again,
