Recently picked up this 1882 S Morgan dollar graded MS 63 by NGC and noticed these strange markings on the obverse of the coin. They are along the entire outer rim on the obv. Is anybody able to tell me what they are? maybe an explanation too. I'm fairly new to collecting Morgans so I'm still learning. Sorry about the terrible quality on the full picture, camera on the pc isn't meant for it lol.

Not hub doubling, but sever Machine Doubling.
The hazing? It could be tarnish? Sunlight on the coin for a period of time. If this were a proof coin (Which there were none) then I would wonder about reflection. Just not familiar with this series. But the MD is the cause of those lines on the devices.

Ya, I didn't suspect hub doubling but also looked too light to be MD. Nice edit! quick turn around lol

It's called pull away toning, common in toned BU Morgans. It's caused by metal flow along the devices near the rim at the time the coin was struck, changing the ability to tone.
