Doubling is most apparent on the TY of LIBERTY. Still haven't been able to identify any die markers on this. I should probably invest in a better scope since it's almost impossible to see minor die gouges with the one I use. Always found the varieties for this year interesting as they're quite a bit different than the Class I DDOs that dominated the early 70s or the Class VIs that make up most of the mid to late 70s. Wexler lists these as Class IV, although they do present as extra thickness (albeit quite different from the extra thickness we see on mid 70s Class VI's). https://doubleddie.com/343501.htmlI've included comparisons of a normal coin of the same date for reference. Note the centers of the closed devices on the LIBERTY? The 'B' and 'R'. Those areas will be smaller than normal on a doubled die. On your coin they look normal?

@coop if you look more closely, you'll see that the center of the R in liberty is indeed significantly reduced from the extra thickness. You're also comparing against the wrong class of DDO. Variety vista does not have any of the three this one is most similar to listed. Click the link I posted to Wexler's listings.

Definitely one of the 1975 DDOs. Nice extra thickness there.
Not sure what die it is as these would look very similar circulated and in LDS, would need die markers.

@Tanman thanks! Appreciate you taking a look. Yeah, it was hard to find any markers between the condition and the less than perfect quality of my scope, sadly, but I'll keep trying!

What I noticed about this DDO is the extra thickness of the vertical part of the T compared to the horizontal bar. Congrats and best of luck with matching up the variety.
Words of encouragement are one of the major food groups. We need to consume them regularly to thrive and grow.

I'm betting on 002 with the pics that Coop put up of Wexler's listings. Even with the circulation of yours, I think you would see SOME splits and I see nothing, just extra thickness. Nice find, Sam!

@makecents it's a tough call, but the shape of the 9 doesn't look like a perfect match for 002. 001/003 are the two I think are most likely (coop listed DDO-001 as WDDO-001 in that post, but if you go to wexler's site, you will see it is very similar as well).

Gotcha. I marked up a couple of your pics with what looks like markers from WDDO-002. When I'm having a hard time finding the markers they point out, I look for my own. See what ya think. You have to make certain concessions, when searching bank rolls and well circulated coins, as I well know. I would have already labeled this " DDO" and went on but I understand when one gets under your skin and you feel like you have to attribute it. Sometimes it helps to lay it down and come back to it later too. You will see things in a different light, sometimes.
