1996 Lincoln Cent - OBV "L" in Liberty dd? REV "FG" clearly doubled and "American & Cent". Am I seeing DD & MD on this coin? Thanks

No doubled die here at all. Complete MD all the way around.

Reverse is MD and the L looks like it took a hit.

Good eye John1 on the L in LIBERTY. I missed that last night. I'm inclined to believe that is ejection doubling on the L. Just another useless form of doubling, still.

You do realize on the 1996 coins the DDR is in a different location?
http://varietyvista.com/01b%20LC%20...201996-D.htm
Take a look at the areas you should be looking at. Looks like the singles squeeze process was starting out at that time. So the locations are in the central areas of the devices. Not on the outside edges.
Wexler has a few listing of both areas being affected:
1996:
http://doubleddie.com/446833.html
1996-D
http://doubleddie.com/728334.html
So it appears that the Philly mint had both and the Denver had only the DDR's with the single squeeze locations. Thus this must have been part of the change over years for cents. (No specific date listed for the change over) So the change over may have gradual. Different for different denomination and different locations. The use of the older dies and the new designs may have taken some time? Thanks for posting your coin, you have opened my mind up to where this may have started.
