A friend sent me a couple pics of a 1922 LWC he was contemplating purchasing & asked for my opinion. Unfortunately, identifying real vs fake coins, is not my expertise & am in need of help from the pros, the second 2 in 192(2)does not look correct to me, tia.

Because if this were a legit 1922-D with no mintmark it most likely would be in uncirculated or close to it grade and therefore be a highly valuable coin. It also does indeed appear that the last 2 in the date looks to have been altered from a 1928 cent because there is what appears to be a trace of an 8 digit below that last 2, and the top of the 2 may very well have been the top of the 8... That is what my eyes say, altered from 1928
