Just FYI, the New Hampshire-P Quarter was minted in 2000, not 2002.

I agree. DDD. This is how the die ages. If you looking for DDO's on the quarters, you looking in the wrong area: More central areas.

I took the liberty to orient the OP's last image correctly and add arrows because something does look thicker. The verticle leg of the R for example. 9Maybe the image is just tilted?) Maybe a few clear closeups of DOLLAR and WE TRUST might help clarify the Die Deterioration for some of us.

I'm going to have to go along with Pete on this one. If this entire Quarter is the result of Die Deterioration then this is one phenomial DDD example. I like the way Pete examined this one and questioned the 'questionable' areas. I would like to see better, CLEAR, close-up cropped pics of the areas Pete mentions. Just MHO.

Quote:Could a Struck Through Grease be part of the issue? Hey John. Just my 2 cents but I'm not thinking a Greaser would cause such widening and distortion of the devices as shown by Pete. Grease would typically eliminate or partially inhibit the devices from being fully struck, as I know you are familiar sir. Based on the op's pics, those appear to be some awfully fat distended/distorted letters on the obverse. But then again, it very well could be a simple case of major DDD on the entire coin but I'd still like to see some clear and close-up pics of these areas as well as a full pic of both sides of the Quarter. I can see where IGWT is most likely DDD but QUARTER and DOLLAR look very odd to me.
