Would Like Help Identifying Error/Issue With A 1975 D Nickel

Jadedx1971 New Member United States 6 Posts	Posted 09/17/2021 7:09 pm I came across this 1975 D Nickel. Looking at the reverse I can't tell if this is a plating issue or something entirely different. The letters are not effected by whatever it is which I would think odd if it were a plating issue. Hopefully someone can see the areas I am talking about with the low quality of my pics. JimmyD Bedrock of the Community Canada 21610 Posts	Posted 09/17/2021 7:41 pm Can't be a plating issue, 1975 nickels are not plated. It is some sort of damage. Hard to say exactly what but it didn't happen during the striking of the coin so it is PMD. Report this Post to the Staff

Exposure to a hostile-to-metals environment--perhaps some time in a subterranean setting--and 'heavy' circulation resulted in this appearance. Suggest not handling coins with metal tweezers.
