When you drive past a car with a caved in bumper, the first thought isn't usually "what an interesting factory defect." Same should be true for coins. If an irregularity can be explained by damage, it's almost certainly not an error.
Yes, given the photos posted it appears to suffer from post strike issues (damage). Might also have begun life with a touch of Die Deterioration as well.
