Hey Guys. 1985 P quarter pulled from roll hunting. There is something between the 9 and 8 in 1985. Under magnification it is raised and part of the coin. Almost looks like a 4. I researched die clashes and all sorts of things but found nothing. It isn't glue or resign. I can affirm it is on the coin to stay. As seen it has green buildup in that area and a light die crack from the forehead east of the L to the rim. Thanks for any info on this one. I appreciate all the knowledge here.

Hmm not really seeing much--that is not the typical location for a die clash though. Any chance on you giving us a really good pic of the date? This is the best I can do with the pics that you have included so far.

Here's an overlay of the Washington quarter. It can help find clash marks on these coins.

Thanks for the overlay! And Spence I have a closer image of the date uploaded. It's the 3rd origional photo on the post.
John I will certainly crop from here out. I am posting from a smart phone and not a computer due to no access to the internet where I live.

I believe with that overlay given this is a die clash. Just very weak. The mark in question lines up perfectly with the overlay given. I am going to look since I have that and see if anything else is visible.

Probably more of a stain issue. If it were a clash mark it would be seen more in the center area of the devices.

Thank you coop. What's on the quarter is not a stain. I know if you had it in hand you would agree. It's just the photos do it that way. Anyway. Yes. It should be visible on other areas of the coin. My thoughts are at one time it was. This thing is so heavily circulated that between the numbers there it was sheltered and safe haha. There were a couple of places I thought I saw something else but like I said it is very circulated. I only wish I had found it before now. Ugh. It would have been something to look at back then.
