Hi all

At first, I thought that this coin had gunk or something similar on it, but after taking a closer look, especially at the reverse, I noticed a slight difference in thickness between the two different colored areas and that the letters don't seem to be affected by it. Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Not sure what's going on with the obverse other than the broken post on the mint mark.
but the reverse looks like a stain of some sort.

Cut holder coin. The mintmark is showing a broken post, making the mintmark filled. But just a normal coin.

I thought it was a stain at first, but I'm no longer sure of that since the area with the stain looking tone/color is lower/not as raised as the normal looking area, I'm thinking something else. And on top of that, it's not affecting the letters would this have had to happen before being struck or am I wrong...I don't know myself, will try to post a more angled pic of the reverse. Thanks!

Dried soda. It should rinse off, but the stains will remain.
