Is the outside edge of the coin bent? If so it is damage. Images of the area might be helpful.

Huh that is a bit unusual--lots going on with this coin. I'm not sure that the surface staining is related to the possible strike through and flan flaw though. Can you please add the weight of this dime to the thread? Thx.

Don't think this is PMD. That's not a stain, it's the copper layer showing on the surface.

Nice die crack on obverse, A struck through on the 'D' of dime? the curved indent looks like it was made from another dime.
