Looks MS 62 - 63 to me.
How much does the missing chunks on reverse 2 on rim affect the grade?
Having trouble making out the extent of scratching on the cheek.
Side note - what do you all think of dipping these morgans - would you rather have dipped or not dipped. Obviously this one was dipped. Seems they all end up "frosted" in spots.
Anyhow - looks like a nice CC mint Morgan - nice value there!

It's GSA so not dipped. These were pulled from original mint bags by the government.

MS64 for me. I think most all of the marks on the cheek are lustre grazes.

Sorry Fenton - My mistake - I am new and learning - I just researched frosting.
I only really notice it on Morgans and most Morgans I see have frost. How can one tell toning/frost from overdipped frost? Is is the same look? Thanks!

Do you have chance to see this in hand first? Not sure the pics are capturing some of the details best and it's true eye appeal might be something else. Obverse look alike it might have a little golden toning. As other have said, we aren't sure if the cheek marks are dings or just a surer thing. With those questions, you might want to treat it like a MS62 if needing to put a $ on it to protect yourself.

There is a small "X" on the cheek, crossed contact marks. The rest of the cheek looks like superficial scuffing. There's a small ding in the hair over the ear and three contact marks in the field east of and below Miss Liberty. The reverse is beautiful. There is a contact trail just below the motto, and that's about it. Overall, the fields look pretty deep and there is abundant frost.
I may be off base here, but everything I see looks like a very solid MS-64, at least SPL. I wouldn't be surprised by MS-64+.

Within the range of MS62-64. The area beneath the chin is impossible to see, so pics with more light are needed.

I usually find fortcollins' opinions most insightful, but not here with this dark exposure and hints of scuffing up and down the portrait and soft overall focus. No way 64 imo. |

I'd run with 64...even w/those pics...luster is prevalent both obverse and reverse.
