Under the "Our Coins" section on their website https://www.ramint.gov.au/ they don't mention any circulating coin released through Woolworths:

2016 olympic coins
2017 magic possum coins
2018 Gold Coast commonwealth games coins
2019 mr squiggle coins
2019 Wallabies coin
2020 Women's T20 coin
2020 Tokyo olympics coins
2021 Wiggles coins

The coins released thru Woolworths are commissioned by Woolworths so don't appear on the RAM page.

So all this time I have been blaming the RAM for this plague of coloured $2 when it's Woolworths' fault!

The RAM considers them to be ''collector coins.''
The mintage of the Woolies coins, just like the $1 A-Z coins released through the Australian Post, is in the ''collector coin section'' of the RAM's annual report.

Then they shouldn't have been intentionally released into circulation. It would be much more exciting to find them if they were NCLT like the $1 coins.

They may be "commissioned" by WOolworths, but they are still legal tender coins, struck by the RAM and authorized by the Australian government.

And as far as the Mint is concerned, they aren't being "released into circulation". They're being sold to you. For face value. You're the one putting them into circulation, if you decide to spend them. This is why Woolworths are quite justified in limiting their purchases to one per customer per day, or whatever the policy is; they don't have such policies in place for their regular change.

Surely if they are giving them out in change too, then they are being released in to circulation by Woolies also.

The same applies to the alphabet dollar coins which are distributed solely through Australia Post.
