There is a currency exchange kiosk at the mall by my work, I was wondering if anyone knows if they actually have American currency that I could purchase? Or do they just convert foreign to Canadian?

I know you can exchange for bills but I don't think they have coins. Best way to find out if it is close is just go in and ask.

Ya I'll just call and ask, I imagine if someone brings in foreign rolled coins they might take it but slim chance.
On a side note for some reason for the first time ever my phone is saying my connection is not secure on this site and every page load double asks if I would like to proceed. Is my phone maybe being hacked?

I've never gotten coins at a currency exchange on either side of the border — just currency. Might be worth asking, though, just in case.
On second thought, I have gotten Loonies and Toonies at an American exchange, but not the other way around, obviously.

@silverwolf, I barley have time to stop at the bank to exchange rolls on my lunch break( it's about 1km+ walking there and back) I'll just give them a call to find out. Or if I have time next time exchange rolls I'll swing by quickly.

The American/Canadian border may be different, but in most circumstances for most countries, nobody on either side exchanges coins. Coins are simply too much hassle, for everyone concerned. Banks and moneychangers generally don't touch the things; if you bring them foreign coins they'll tell you to keep them as souvenirs, give them to kids or give them away to charity. They might know of coin dealers and tell you to go there, too.

I was told if you want to get the best exchange rates, find a casino. They've got bills, coins, anything to get you to stay and gamble. Funny, it always seems to be in the middle of the casino for some reason!

@KenKat, I haven't been to many casinos in Canada or even around where I live, no idea how that would work and the ones I have been to pay out in tickets you cash in.
@Sap, I imagine that would be the case. I found a envelope once with a bunch if foreign bills in them, ended up being worth 80 Canadian face value. They took the bills and gave me Canadian.
