In the depressed areas I can see remnants of what may be gold plating. The side with the crown appears to have a die crack. Report this Post to the Staff

ironhorse Valued Member Canada 363 Posts	Posted 09/30/2021 3:26 pm It's a button...typical for the 1800-1830 time frame based on the construction and backmark with the crown which is what you are seeing . Origin is likely Britain. I find many at the older colonial sites I metal detect..often coins resemble button with their shanks removed and vice versa. Report this Post to the Staff
