Today I got a $10 roll of quarters and as I was looking through them I saw this one and I'm not sure my camera does it any justice. But if you look carefully it has doubled circular lines on both the left and right sides. Can anyone tell me if this is an error?
to CCF Bill. with the above reply. Definitely not a mint error. If you look at enough coins over time (all denominations) you will see this occurrence quite often.
A damaged quarter, It was on the end of a roll of quarters. It is caused by the Coin Wrapping Machine. You can find these on the end of rolls in any denomination.
If you found this is an original roll, you might pick out a few of the nicest ones to save. It appears to be a very fresh die example. So take a look at the roll again. (They will have the same markers as this coin has. Or you may have fresh examples from many different dies? Depending if these were the very first strikes of the year?)
