I was just taking photos of a complete set of Buffalo nickels I was going to sell when I noticed that on the inside back cover of the Dansco album it listed a 1918- S 8 over 7! I've heard of error coins but now we have an error coin album. I wonder if it's worth more than a regular album....?

Odd too is that the Red Book shows 1918D, 8/7. And of course we all know the Red Book never is wrong.

Fixed. Had a problem with parentheses, I beat it into submission though.

I haven't ever seen an "S" mint 18/17 Buffalo. But here is the "D" mint example from my collection: Image: 1918over17DObv.jpg25.43 KB Regards, afernbaugh

carl: Hey the Red Book is correct, Dansco is just a typo, or being silly.

TreasHunt - Dansco is a typo, I was the one being silly! I wonder if carl made his comment based on the fact that this date is most commonly expressed as 1918/7 D? The Red Book might have their slightly unusual high-brow way of expressing it but it's NOT incorrect. The Grey Sheet has their own take on it. They list it as a 1918/17 D. You say tomato, I say tomahto...

You say tomato, I say tomahto... I just went and looked at the ones in my sets. Since I have 6 completed sets of those I just read what it said under each coin. Then just in case I looked in several editions of the Red Book, I have all, then in one Blue Book. All agreed on the D. However, Dansco may know something that no one else is aware of yet.

Here's ANOTHER little typo that should be embarrassing to the bank handing out these "NICK LE" wrappers! Maybe I should try to put together a roll of 1918- S 8 over 7 NICK LEs...?

Looks like Dansco mixed up their Buffalos and their Standing Liberties. That's pretty amusing
