1976-D Washington Quarter With Proof Reverse?

AnotherSeeker New Member United States 2 Posts	Posted 10/12/2021 7:11 pm Hi. This is my first post so please be kind. I noticed most of my Denver minted coins have a different reverse than this one, as seen in the pics of both torches. I'm thinking this is a Type 4 reverse because the pics I see of Type 3 (which this coin should be) show flames like on the left side of the pic with two flames. There are also some other minor differences, like the width between the AM of AMERICA looking 'close'. Is this common? I've never read about it but it makes me wonder if there could be an S under some of these 'filled mint marks'. Thanks for any help! After looking at lots of pictures of other 1976 quarters, I think that the mark on the main flame (center) was caused by a hit by another coin. Collecting since 1972. I have to agree with everybody on the OMM but that is not the title of the topic. if I thought it was OMM I would have simply said that. DEARBORN - thanks for addressing the question I asked. I see the ding on the center flame that you refer to and agree but I am talking about the separations between the flames. machine wear or Die Deterioration is not going to move the shape of the flame. look at main PCGS images of the S clad and S silver issues and compare flames. they are different and in such a way as matches these two. you can see it very, very easily.
