Notice the crack near the 10 o'clock position. I would've said post mint, but it runs behind the "E" in United. What is this called and what causes it?

Do you suppose the blank part was already damaged before it was pressed?

just a thought, is it not possible that this coin is showing a broken die that was repaired and not polished well enough to remove this obvious sunken weld or repair mark on the die, the letters E and T have the "impression " in them also?

Struck through error
Occurs when a foreign object lies on top of the planchet and leaves an impression of itself when struck into the coin.

It is indeed a struck through error. It is a minor one but a struck through error , none the less.

Hey Rockdude, Excellent description! Very Clear!

Thanks,
Bill

The bigger the object struck through the better. The older the coin the better. It just takes the right buyer to appreciate it.
