. Is the "tail" on top of the GO or is there an indent on top of GO? If indent it might be a struck through a rim burr.

Tanman If this was a strike through, it would be into the surface. This is on top of the surface. It's a piece that was shaved off the rim, and still attached.

To my old eyes, the op's first pic looks totally incuse without a doubt. Then the op's third pic looks like it is totally raised without a doubt. I agree there are some lighting issues but honky never chimed back in as to what John1 had originally asked if it was raised or incuse.

Sure looks incuse to me.

If I'm wrong and it is raised and on the surface, struck through retained rim burr. Triangular shape with pre-strike damage on the rim adjacent, that's a rim burr.

It looks to me that the rim took a good hit and the metal was left on top of the 'Go'.
