I think you can pretty much rule out a genuine 1913 being sold on ebay!

Especially if the seller is based in China.

js13977, I believe my 1913 Liberty Head Nickel to be counterfit. We looked at it through a powerful microscope and found a small divot right in front of the 3. Like work has been done around that number. That being said, I still may send it in to be looked at to ANACs because it has been circulated. I will send pics soon, watch for them.

A pretty good rule of thumb is: If you have a 1913, it's not real! Sorry, that's just the wat it is.

Merty, If you look at the other images of the real 1913 LH nickel, the tip of the 3 has imperfection and mine has exactly the same thing. You have look at you 1913 on a powerful microscope while mine has analyzed by a forensic mettalurgical expert using a SEM and another powered microscope used in forensic science, did not find any manipulation to my coin. If you have read about An article Mr. Bowers has commented in one magazine stated a theory that another possible source of this coin could possibly struck as a test coin in 1912 before the buffalo is minted. If the possibility is correct it will means that no one really knows how much of this coin are really made. Merty, let me know when you will have a picture of your coin to compare with the one I have.

js13977 Can you post your pictures here so everyone can see it? I am fairly new to this forum as well, but everyone seems to know what they are talking about. There is a coin show in May where I live and I am taking my coin there, as there will be grading available. I am going to try and post pictures this evening of my coin.

This is the best pic I have of one: Note the inside point of the 3.

The lower part of the 3 is visibly different.

merty, your 3 is really jagged and angular. Compare with the smooth curves on the 3 in SuperDave's picture.
