I have had this coin floating around for over a year and just don't know what to do with it. The color is totally off for a Lincoln Cent, and the weight comes in at 3.21g. I realize that coins tone in a variety of ways, and that weight can vary, but with both those things on this coins was wondering.

Does anyone know of an off-metal or foreign planchet for this year that would be close to this? Otherwise I just need to file it away as unusual.

@tb, have you measured the specific gravity for this piece? That might help us figure out if it is an off-metal alloy.

Spence, I have not. Just too many things to run through to do that right now, but you are correct that would be helpful. I'll see if I can get to it in the next couple of days.

Ok sounds like a good plan. I'm looking forward to seeing what you measure!

Still within tolerance.

3.24 is max for tolerance.

Very interesting, almost has a pink tone to it. Unusual alloy mix error? Some of the color does look normal.
