Just realised that these standard design circulating coins are not available in any kind of uncirculated mint set:

2005 $1 mob of roos, 20c platypus
2014 $1 mob of roos

The only way to get an uncirculated example of the above 3 coins is to somehow get your hands on an uncirculated RAM roll.

1984 $1 [UNC in Red Bubble Square Coincard only]

The following were not issued in the standard UNC year mint set but are available in another kind of uncirculated set:

2007 20c [UNC Magic Pudding Baby Set] [Specimen Wedding Set]
2008 20c [2 coin UNC set] [UNC Magic Pudding Baby Set] [Specimen Wedding Set]
2009 20c [2 coin UNC set] [UNC Blinky Bill Baby Set] [Specimen Wedding Set]
2012 50c [UNC Dot & Kangaroo Baby Set only]
2013 20c [UNC Dot & Kangaroo Baby Set only]
2015 50c [UNC Alphabet Baby Set only]
2016 5c, 10c, 20c, 50c, $1, $2 [UNC Alphabet Baby Set]
2018 $1 [UNC Possum Magic Baby Set only]
2019 IRB $1, 5c [UNC Possum Magic Baby Set only]
2019 JC 5c, 10c, 20c, 50c, $1, $2 [UNC Downies QEII New Portrait Set] $2 JC also available in [2019 Effigies Over Time Set]
2021 $2 [UNC Australian Baby Set only]

Is the reason for the RAM issuing "Baby Coin Sets" or "Wedding Sets" really to commemorate births and marriages.

Has anyone actually bought any of these sets because they or someone they know is having a baby or getting married?

Looking at the above list of standard circulation coins only available in such sets plus the commemorative coins likewise specific to these sets, it seems to me the RAM is trying to entice all and sundry (grannies included) to fork out exorbitant sums of money just to get a few extra coins to complete their Australian decimal collections.

I purchased a baby coin set for a baby once, but these days it seems like a way to get collectors to buy yet another set.
