Has anyone ever seen something like this or is it just another common coin?

I would get rid of it, once the zinc has been exposed to air, the rot
will just continually get worse.

If the zinc is exposed with like a hit with a straight pin, the zinc will start to rot and rise. Also the gray eye peeking though the plating tells us that that is. Just coin damage.
