Could you show us sharper, larger pics of both sides oriented right-side up?

It is an extremely worn LWC ( Lincoln Wheat cent)

If you look closely at the reverse you can read:

Row 1: the letter 'N' on "ONE"
Row 2: In large letters 'EN' of the word "CENT"
Row 3: in smaller letters: 'TED ST' of the words "UNITED STATES".

First image is a re-post of the OP's submission but rotated for proper orientation, Second image edited by Dearborn.

May have been deliberately damaged, but definitely post mint damage. Lack of rims on the reverse tells us it's not a mint error.

Or circulated till the design was almost all worn off. The rim on the coin prevents the coins devices to remain strong. Well on the obverse the rim is higher, but the reverses on the wheat cents are not a high. So they don't prevent the circulation flattening as much as that part of the rim is not as tall. Thus why the Wheat cent reverses are suffering more on this series. Not all the Memorials didn't have the reverse wear issue. Just the wheat series reverses.

Thanks Coop, I thought I got it correct on this coin. After all I do not see ANY sanding or grinder marks on it. It just looks VERY worn out. No intentional damage at all.
