I recently bought several lots of silver from a seller on on ebay including 5 mexican coins. I paid $24 for them so apparently a OK deal. I soon discovered the 1968 25 Pesos olympic coin is a fake. It felt light in the hand so I weighed it and it was well under weight. A magnet test showed it was magnetic so a definite fake. I am covered by Paypal so should get a refund but thought I will check out the other 4 Peso coins (1958, 1960 and 1966x2). Weights were 16.05 (best specimen), 15.96, 15.96 and 15.95g. Numista lists the weight as 16g so weight seems spot on. They are not magnetic. Given they only contain 10% silver I would assume these are not as collectable and hence less likeley to be counterfeited. Does any one know of fake specimens?
Thanks

Forgers are getting desperate, making forgeries out of these junk silver coins.

The one peso coins look perfectly real, but as you correctly surmised, they have little collector value. Some, but very little. Due to the low silver value, and most on the surface I think, they are not desirable even for refiners.

Thanks for the link Dorado. The seller kindly refunded the entire lot. I don't believe he knew the coin was a counterfeit.
