Hi, I started working on date/MM set of Buffalos last year. As a part of the learning curve, I submitted some of my raw coins to ANACS during their special. (Took them 4 weeks to email my results for those wanting to know.) Here is how I did.
Date Variety ANACS Grade / My Buyer's Opinion 1913 VAR 1 MS 64 / 62-63 1915 AU 58 / Slider, I think the luster tipped the scale to AU58 1926 ObvLam AU 58 / Slider, I think the luster tipped the scale to AU58. Had previously missed the lamination. 1930-S AU 55 / MS61-62, so surpised this low. 1930-S F 12 / VG - bought as I thought it was S/S and to learn about lower grades. 1931 MS 62 / 62-63 1934 MS 63 / 62-63 1934-D SMALL D MS 63 / 62-63 1936-S/S FS-501 RPM-1 AU 53 / 55, Gift from my parents 20+ years ago. 1937 MS 64 / 63-64. Great luster 1937 WHIZZED AU 50 / AU, but great reverse eye appeal and toning. "Whizzed" was unexpected.
None of these are particularly rare or high value coins in the set. I'm still trying to make my mistakes with the lower value "common" stuff before I dip into the higher value and harder to find stuff. Happy to report that my misses in the batch weren't financial disasters. As these were raw, I tried to keep my spend more AU than MS and I was pretty close on a lot of them.
I'll try to post pics when my package arrives if I can figure out how to avoid the glare with my non-tech iPhone setup.

That sounds like a good result, overall! For what it's worth, from my perspective, ANACS has been the most consistent TPG for Buff grades over the last couple of years. Enjoy the experience with the Buffs. It's a challenging set, and sometimes on the frustrating side. Be patient, and have fun along the way!

Well done @coll. I'm interested to see pics of the whizzed coin when you get them all back.

Good work on your part estimating the likely grades.

Here is my attempt to get pics of the 1937D they detailed as whizzed AU50. Maybe someone here can enlighten me as to what ANACS saw in this as whizzed so I am better prepared next time. There is enough color in this coin that the photo capture a little of the toning. I loved how the golden highlighted the Buffalo, and still do. I'll keep trying to get decent pics of some of the others that do them enough justice.

Nothing that jumps out as "whizzed" at first glance. A few spots on the reverse look a bit satiny, which could be what they saw (buffalos head and raised ground). I do see a reverse scratch over the Buffalo back that looks newer, and deep. I am a fan of the toning though.

I believe the "scratch" is a fiber that's been blown off. This snapshot, though rudimentary, captures the color I dig better. Since it Detailed, this a rather low value coin, I think I'm going to set it on my shelf and appreciate it more often than hiding it in binder.

Hmm that '37 D looks pretty nice to me in these pics. The surface scratches are much more obvious on the whizzed coins that I have.

I don't see it as whizzed.

Did you request to have the reverse facing the label side of the slab?
