Yes, it's been a while since a good toonie and German planchet thread was on here. t_y is the twonie guru and has an extensive, extensive collection of errors and off-centers.

Coins and Canada dot com has got great information on the German Planchette,'96 toonies with excellent photos of off/centres and the tell-tale lines thru the rings.

zears99, can you share some photos of the off-centre toonies you found?

As far as I know there is no toonie with just the core off center, it would be a modified coin. The 1997 German planchette toonie has been posted on the CCF before so if you type it in the search box you can see some examples.

I will repost my German planchet that t_y confirmed earlier. Note the vertical lines and no cameltoe paw.

@wade thanks for the correction. I should have been more specific as I meant rotated not off center. Nice off center BTW I have yet to find one off enough to justify keeping.

Toonies will probably be the last part of any collection I out together. I like to work on lower denominations first, I may check the prices on ebay and grab one so I have an example. I still need a nice Cud example, a nice rotated die example, and an off center strike example. I honestly don't even know how off center cores are stuck. Does anyone have any link or info on how the cores can be struck off center? Edit: I imagine it is a planchette error over a sticking error, never researched toonies before other then the odd one I see posted here.

Check PCGS # 26645609 How off centre cores come to be: there's a good article published in the journal of the RCNA. Once you become a member, just ask the librarian for a copy. While asking, check the article describing the German planchet. Both articles have quite good pictures. Edited for clarity
