When we sold our collection it was all laid out to create posters. we moved recently and I was hanging this up. The close-up of the 1911 Specimen Set brought back a memory for me. Back in the 1970s when I went to coin shows I remember Peter Degraff having an empty 1911 case including the dollar offering anyone $5000.00 that could fill in the holes of this empty case. I always said to myself that someday I would do it and that was the result. Enjoy

Cool story!!
You should come visit a Coin Expo show sometime in Toronto... most of the old gang (which I am a part of now) still congregates at the pub for a little "show-and-tell". Of course, it won't be the same as Forbes has sold most of his collection, and resides in Australia most of the time - but still, it is lots of laughs and good conversations.

Here is a memory for Sid from way back when Torex was on the waterfront. You aren't in it Roger, because I think that you took the picture, but Sid is there as is Aussie Bob.

I'm not sure that some in the photo want to be ID'd, but at least 3 are regular posters here. I've lost touch with 3 of them, though I know one has a great coin site in a specific area of numismatics. I just posted the photo to show an old Torex and some of the folks that are still friends.

Very, very cool! If you ever do visit a torex or expo let us know..I'd love to meet you some day. You had a truly remarkable collection...I own a few of your pieces now and they are some of my favorites.. especially the 1939 specimen dime and quarter.
Feel free to call me Will.

Those posters used to hang in one of the hallways at HA hq in Dallas. I don't know if they're up yet in the meeting building. I assume they are.

And I'm far left in the photo. And people around here always said that I was a dead ringer for Ron Lancaster, the old (now deceased) head coach of the Hamilton Ticats. Complete strangers used to stop me at games to find out for sure.
