I was looking at my pocket change for silver coins like I always do when I came across this 2002P Louisiana quarter. There is no copper visible. I know some silver proof sets were minted but I'm pretty sure it should have an S mint mark if that was the case. It weighs 5.8 grams and is also slightly magnetic. Any ideas of what this quarter might be? Any help is appreciated. I'm new here and hope I have posted this to the proper forum.

It would help if you posted photos of both sides but from your description, I would say
that you have a plated quarter. Not uncommon among the 50 States Quarters.
It would weigh 6.25g if it were silver. No extra value for these.

to CCF. Please post a full coin photo front and back and in focus. Most likely what you have is a plated coin, silver or platinum. They also made gold plated ones. Those types of coins were plated after it left the mint by a private company.

Really interested in seeing full, large and sharp images of the obverse and reverse. Thanks

Probably a HSN coin they plated and sold in sets back in the " State Quarters" binge, to sell to the rubes. When they found out later and the newness wore off and they realized they were cheated on these, they spend them. A way to tell for sure it to make a mark on the reeds. If you see copper under the plating, that is what it is.

Just a spender coin now.

I'm sorry was having a hard time uploading pics of this coin. I will try again. Still wonder why I can pick it up with a magnet.

Why would it be magnetic?

Nickel plating on top of the fact that the cladding is 25% nickel would make it slightly magnetic

If the coin is plated, it would be plated with either silver or platinum.
