Poll Question
What do you see?
I am having trouble deciding.
Also there appears to be some doubling on the front.
Comment on that if you can. Doubling is seen only on front and mostly in these areas shown. Thank you.

For me to see the poll results I have to take a shot at this.
Voted : Something else - please explain

I think there is such dramatic doubling in this particular area that the 1830 over 1830 has made it appear like 1880? I don't think the date is incorrect, just doubled?

I think the first and last 8 are the same as they both have an unusual upper left loop, so I'm going with 1880.

Can you add a photo of the whole medal straight on?

First image looks like 1880, the second looks like 1820. No matter how I look at it I can't see 1830...

The two middle digits appear to be identical, with the same weaknesses in both places in the blown-up first image. So my guess would be either 1880 or 1330.

If you look up Miraculous Medal and see images or read on it. 1830 is always the date on the medal and related history of it. This was not made in 1930.

A couple of you saw 1330 or 1380 and I think that this is a good point to ponder considering the doubling.
Is it possible that the original die was a date of 1380 instead of 1830?
Then when the error was realized the master die was recut and corrected to 1830 and right over the 1380?
I am not clear how the master and working dies process goes but maybe it also has something to do with why the doubling exists.
