There are so many nuances to valuing coins. I'm glad I have a forum to which I can turn for help.

I read that 1982 was when copper pennies were changed to copper plated zinc. So, I weighed the pennies to separate the zinc from the copper ones. I read that the value of the pennies differ according to where they were minted and whether small or large date. I can't see a difference in the date sizes though. I have a 1982 D. Would that definitely be a small date?

I also have a small date 1970 penny. Some accounts say very little worth, others say valuable. I'm confused.

. 1982-D comes in SD & LD copper & copper plated zinc. Use the search box for info on telling the difference. Please post photos of your 1970.

And, do a google image search -- ' Lincoln Cent 1982', and check out the many images comparing large and small dates.

Finally able to post pics of pennies. Now I've read that bronze was also one of the various 1982 pennies.
The 1982 D weighs 3.11g and the other 1982 penny weighs 3.06g. I've also noticed what I think is doubling on the date of one. Are they small date? Composition? Anyone's help is appreciated. Thanks.

The differences?

Note the difference in sizes of the motto devices?

Note the difference in locations of the date on these two. The small date is further away from the rim.

One last try on this 1982 penny. This is a different penny than the previous 2. I have studied and studied the differences til I'm cross-eyed and have trouble. Is this a small date? Lol. Thanks.
